Jagr would consider Montreal: CJAD source
Tomas Plekanec and Jaromir Jagr are teammates again in May---what about October-May 2012?
A well-placed NHL source tells CJAD Jagr would put Montreal on his short-list of teams he'd love to hear from for a return to the NHL.
Jagr is 39 and has been playing the last 3 years in Omsk, Russia in the KHL. His goal production his last 3 years in the NHL fell from 54 to 30 to 25.
Goal production has dipped slightly over 3 years in Omsk, but he still has the vision---his assist totals rose and his point totals are stable.
Sources suggest to CJAD that Detroit and 2 of Jagr's former NHL stops, Pittsburgh and the Rangers, could show interst for 2011-12.
GM Pierre Gauthier does not comment on "speculation" but Jagr is by some accounts in the best shape he's been in for 5 years.
Other CJAD sources suggest the Canadiens' GM would NOT be likely to show any interest.
Jagr could consider returning to some of his previous NHL stomping grounds like the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, or perhaps the Detroit Red Wings.
He's earned about $5-million/season in the KHL.
Jagr is a boyhood hero of the Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec, and they have worked out in the offseason together in some recent years.
Plek has scored in the 1 game he's played in the 2011 Worlds; Jagr had yet to register a point after 2 games, but was a +2 and leading all Czech forwards in icetime.
