Burning question for Gauthier
Habs GM Pierre Gauthier has a unique letter coming to his desk this week. A Grade 3 class wants answers.
After the trade of Michael Cammalleri, a teacher thought she could create a "teachable moment" out of the childrens' anger and frustration at the trade of the popular Canadiens' star---in-game no less.
The teacher at DDO's Wilder Penfield School encouraged the kids to express themselves politely in letters directly to the man who pulled the trigger on the controversial trade.
Turns out the child speaks for many other Habs fans. After the letter was posted on CJAD's facebook page, the young man instantly had support to become the next GM!
Here's the letter shared with CJAD 800 (with parental approval) on the Andrew Carter Morning Show:
Dear Mr. Gauthier,
I was very upset when I woke up on Friday, January 13th and learned that you had traded Michael Cammalleri to the Calgary Flames. I more than understand that as a general manager of the Canadiens your job is to make your team better, but there is one thing that I do not understand about this trade. Why did you tell Cammallleri to go back to his hotel in the middle of an important game against the Boston Bruins, our arch rivals? Don't you think it would have been embarrasssing for him leaving in the middle of a game? I feel it was very rude of you to trade him that way. The Montreal Canadiens are a very classy organization, but that was a very unclassy move on your part. Very unclassy. Oh! and one more thing Mr. Gauthier, what am I supposed to do with my Cammalleri shirt now?
