Markov returns to ice, still long way from game-ready
Canadiens assistant captain Andrei Markov has finally seen the beginning of the end of his long rehab. He and Habs fans can only hope.
Coach Randy Cunneyworth confirmed to me that Markov skated for 15 minutes this morning but remains a "long way" from being game ready. There is still no public timetable for his return to practising with his teammates even in the 'don't hit me' jersey.
Markov was initially projected to miss the first week or 2 of the season, but despite another surgery in the fall, has been said to be "progressing" continuously.
Listen here to Coach Cunneyworth about Markov's first strides toward a possible return.
Travis Moen also has to undergo another test that could confirm more bad news, that the gritty forward will be out for a longer term than expected as well.
