Blake Geoffrion keeps it all in the family
The Canadiens have called up Blake Geoffrion from the Hamilton Bulldogs, while Louis Leblanc makes his way back to the club's AHL farm team.
Geoffrion will join the Canadiens in Tampa and will be available to the club when the Habs played the Lightning tomorrow night.
Geoffrion will wear number 57 with the Habs, which seems like a natural fit. His grandfather, "Boom Boom" Geoffrion wore number 5 with the Canadiens while his great-grandfather, Howie Morenz, wore number 7.
Geoffrion has played five games for the 'Dogs since being acquired by the Canadiens' organization in the deal that sent Hal Gill to Nashville. He picked up two goals and six assists during that stretch with Hamilton.
Geoffrion, who wore number 51 with Hamilton, made his debut on Bell Centre ice last Friday night, when the Bulldogs were in town to play the St. John's Ice Caps. Geoffrion scored in the shootout to help lead Hamilton to a 3-2 win.
