Bergevin: in town for further grilling?
If Marc Bergevin is indeed in town for further dicussion about the Habs' GM job as several sources tell CJAD 800, at least he's resisted any temptation to check in under an assumed name like he often did as an NHL player.
CJAD and Sports Illustrated's Mike Farber, in confirming that Claude Loiselle of the Leafs (McGill law grad, too) is out of the running, told the Andrew Carter Morning Show that Bergevin would often check into hotels as Denis Lemieux---the iconic character from the classic hockey movie "Slapshot."
Bergevin has repeatedly declined to comment directly to CJAD 800, but it is believed he's got follow-up sessions with upper management of the Canadiens. Minority owner Michael Andlauer is out of the country right now, at a hockey tournament in Europe, but it is believed with Geoff Molson, Kevin Gilmore the Habs COO, and Serge Savard are pursuing their short-list.
Farber says Francois Gigeure may have been eclipsed by Julien Brisebois as a 3rd candidate still officially in the running.
