Tinordi taking Habs pre-season experience into Memorial Cup
Habs' draft pick Jarred Tinordi says he's tried the use the knowledge and experience that he picked up playing in five pre-season games with the Montreal Canadiens -- as Tinordi and his London Knights' teammates look ahead to the start, this week, of the Memorial Cup.
Tinordi, Montreal's 1st-round selection in 2010, played in two exhibition games with the Canadiens that fall, and three more the following pre-season. And the experience hasn't been lost on the big defenceman as he looks to lead the Knights into Cup action in Shawinigan as team captain.
"It was great to to get that experience under my belt and figure out the game a litle bit." said Tinordi. "It's something that I've tried to use coming back to London -- that knowledge and experience."
Tinordi said he talks to his dad, former NHLer Mark Tinordi, quite a bit -- through the season in the playoffs.
"He helps me with a lot of things. It's kind of nice to be able to lean back on him when I have questions." Tinordi hopes his dad will be able to make it to Shawinigan for a few Memorial Cup games.
Mark Tinordi and new Habs' general manager Marc Bergevin are of the same National Hockey League vintage, and would have crossed paths in the NHL as opponents. Listen in on the conversation as I ask Jarred if he's had a "father and son talk" about the new Canadiens' GM.
