Marc Bergevin said choosing assistant coaches was Michel Therrien's perogative but the first move brings in Gerard Gallant, a former teammate of the new Habs GM who admits he does not know Therrien that well.

Gallant was a teammate of Bergevin's with the Lightning and says he drove to the rink most days with the popular NHL veteran turned Habs' front-office boss.   Many laughs off the ice and Bergevin usually the instigator, reveals Gallant.

Gallant has 7 years NHL coaching experience and is a Canadian Hockey League Coach of the Year who says he believes his style and character are similar to Therrien's though.

Gallant has hands-on experience with a potential future star on the Canadiens' blueline Nathan Beaulieu at Saint John with the Sea Dogs.  The new Habs assistant coach suggested he wouldn't be surprised if 2011 top pick of the club making it to the NHL at some point this coming season.
