Galchenyuk plans to soak it all in
Alex Galchenyuk looks at this three-day Montreal Canadiens development camp as a learning experience.
"I'm here just being the player I am -- learning and training to become a better player." said Galchenyuk following a morning dry-land session at Brossard, and before the 14 prospects took to the ice for a late-afternoon session at the Canadiens' practice facility.
Galchenyuk will wear number 27 during development came -- because it was a number that happened to be available. Could we see number 27 on the ice when regular training camp breaks and the Canadiens are set to open the season?
"There are three months to go before training camp, it's a long summer," said Galchenyuk. I'm just working day to day and I'll see where it takes me."
I asked Galchenyuk how his life has changed since the Canadiens made him their first-round pick earlier this month in Pittsburgh: He talked about the excitment of being part of the most historic team in the NHL. "I'm really proud of it," he added.
"And I have more Twitter followers."
