Price back in saddle for 6 years

While Carey Price has been spending quality time with his horses back at the ranch in the BC interior, Habs GM Marc Bergevin has lassoed a signature.

The Canadiens have Price on the "Gorges Plan"--a 6-year term--and talks with PK Subban's agent will resume soon.

Bergevin, speaking for the first time since the start of "Free Agent Frenzy", says he's "very happy" with the deal to lock down the goalie position and to add "grit" and "sandpaper" to the Canadiens with deals for Colby Armstrong, Francis Bouillon and Brandon Prust.

Bergevin was adamant about refusing to buy out Scott Gomez, and admitted that the bidding for "skill players" is simply too high: he considered bids for Semin and Hudler but made no offers.

Bergevin also confired what agent and former Hab Petr Svoboda told CJAD in the afternoon: the Habs had no interest in Jaromir Jagr.

"We have young players like Louis Leblanc and Brendan Gallagher...I don't want to close the door on them."

Listen to Habs GM Marc Bergevin, who admitted it was "interesting" and "a little tiring" going through his first free agency sweepstakes calling the shots with an NHL club.
