Roadrunner happy to shut out The Eagle
Hockey Hall of Famer Yvan Cournoyer supports shutting out Alan Eagleson from 40th anniversary events surrounding the Canada-Soviet Series of 72.
In a CJAD 1-on-1 interview, Cournoyer, who assisted on the series-winning goal of Paul Henderson, took a jab at Eagleson, the former head of the NHLPA who is being ignored by reunion planners.
"I heard he said he's going to have some champagne and stay at home...anyway I think we paid for his bottle of champagne," says the 10-time Stanley Cup champion. "He's going to have a free bottle."
Cournoyer's Team Canada and Montreal Canadiens teammate Frank Mahovlich was one of the victims in the fraud case that brought down the empire of "The Eagle".
