Beliveau big regret over '72

In a CJAD exclusive, Jean Beliveau says his biggest hockey regret is not coming out of retirement to play for Team Canada against the Soviets in '72.

Beliveau was in Moscow for the historic moment when his Canadiens teammate Yvan Cournoyer earned the assist on Paul Henderson's historic goal, but Beliveau was in the broadcast booth and not on the ice.

Jean Beliveau recalls his angst over delaying retirement long enough to play against the Soviet "empire" in a CJAD 800 1-on-1 with Rick Moffat.

More Moscow memories with Canadiens Peter Mahovlich (Wednesday), Hockey Hall of Famer Brad Park (Thursday) and Cournoyer on Friday---the 40th anniversary of the greatest goal in hockey history.

There should be no regrets. There is nothing more sad than seeing an older great player attempting a come back after passing his prime. We wish to remember you when you dazzled us all with your great skills on the ice.
