NHL and NHLPA actually meeting

Believe it or not, the two sides in the NHL labor dispute will actually be meeting face to face today. It'll be the first meeting since October 18th.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly will meet with Steve Fehr, the Players' Association's special counsel, at an undisclosed location. The lockout has already seen the league cancel all regular-season games through November 30th.

And the N-H-L has also called off the January 1st Winter Classic outdoor game Detroit and Toronto at Michigan Stadium, saying it had run out of time to pull the event together. In other words, they avoided stiff financial repercussions by cancelling the game.
