Markov scores KHL version of Gordie Howe hat-trick
He didn't even hurt his hands. Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov scored a goal, an assist, and in the final minute got into a fight ("4 minutes for fisticuffs" according to the official KHL game report) in a win for his temporary team Vityaz.
Markov took offense to some stickwork along the boards in the final seconds, and got the sticks up against Andrei Spiridonov.
The goal was Markov's first in the KHL, and highlighted his first multi-point game back in Russia.
Spiridonov is a former Oilers' draft pick who once racked up 99 PIM in junior with the London Knights.
Markov was returning from injury, after being held without a goal in his first 11 games this season.
