Gorges never thought owners would be "crazy enough" to lock out players
A couple of days ago, Habs' defenceman Josh Gorges put out a call on Twitter for Montrealers to join him for some pick-up shinny at an outdoor community rink in Verdun. This afternoon, several dozen hockey players of all shapes and sizes answered Gorges' call and showed up at 2 p.m. for a some "pond hockey", as the Habs' blueliner put it.
I had a chance to sit down with Gorges while he was lacing up the skates in the adjacent chalet before "puck drop", and he shared his thoughts about pond hockey, the NHL Lockout, and his thoughts about playing overseas, if the current NHL season never gets off the ground.
