Canada punches ticket to WJC semi-final
Canada beat the hosts from Russia 4-1 today to advance directly to the semi-finals of the World Junior Hockey Championships.
Doug Hamilton, Mark Shiefle, Jonathan Drouin and Jonathan Huberdeau, with the empty-netter, scored for Canada, while Malcolm Subban backstopped the win to move Canada to 4-0 on the tournament. Drouin was named player of the game.
Canada faces the winner of the game between the U.S.A and the Czech Republic in semi-final action Thusday. The Russians must now play a quarter-final match as a result of today's loss to Canada.
