Canada beat the hosts from Russia 4-1 today to advance directly to the semi-finals of the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Doug Hamilton, Mark Shiefle, Jonathan Drouin and Jonathan Huberdeau, with the empty-netter, scored for Canada, while Malcolm Subban backstopped the win to move Canada to 4-0 on the tournament. Drouin was named player of the game.

Canada faces the winner of the game between the U.S.A and the Czech Republic in semi-final action Thusday. The Russians must now play a quarter-final match as a result of today's loss to Canada.

Great performance and very disciplined play by Team Canada. Hope Jack Todd writes about the dirty hockey played by Team Russia. PK must be very proud of the great play of Malcolm. Go Canada Go.
