Gally can learn on 4th line: USA coach
It will be Marc Bergevin's call of course, but Team USA gold medal-winning coach Phil Housley says the Habs' top draft pick showed defensive smarts in the title game and could learn and grow in a 4th line role at the NHL level.
The Canadiens' rookie GM is feeling competing pressures: not to rush his prized 1st round draft pick or if Alex Galchenyuk is game ready, to unleash him out of the gate in the NHL's lockout-shortened season.
Housley tells CJAD 800 in a 1-on-1 interview that the 18 year old (turning 19 next month) was a big part of the "spark" and "depth" doing a "great job" without the puck "especially in the gold medal game."
"He was usually the first guy back paying a price away from the puck defensively," says Housley, a longtime NHL defenseman.
