All hands on deck at Brossard, except Subban
It was all hands on deck -- almost -- for members of the Montreal Canadiens, who reported to Brossard today for team physicals and the "unofficial" start of training camp.
The only player missing from Brossard today was unsigned defenceman PK Subban. CJAD's Abe Hefter received an email from Subban's agent, Don Meehan, late this afternoon, saying "Our discussions continue."
While the rest of the Habs showed up for physicals and an optional noon-hour spin on the ice at Brossard, Meehan and Canadiens' GM Marc Bergevin continued to work toward putting a contract together for the Canadiens' defenceman.
Camp includes four members of the Hamilton Bulldogs called up from the American Hockey League: Gabriel Dumont, Brendan Gallagher, Jarred Tinordi, and veteran defenceman Mike Commodore, who is looking to revive his NHL career with the Habs. In addition, Alex Galchenyuk of the OHL Sarnia Sting was invited to camp, which is scheduled to officially begin tomorrow morning at 10.
Listen as Galchenyuk discusses putting his skills up against NHLers. Dumont talks about getting the official word from the coaching staff at 1:30 a.m. that he was bound for Montreal. And Commodore talks about a potential new lease on his hockey life.
