Face time before ice time for Subban
Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien and GM Marc Bergevin will sit down with PK Subban tonight to talk about the "plan" and the team's philopshy going forward. However, it remains to be seen when Subban will get his first taste of action this season after coming to terms on a new two-year contract, as announced by the team last night.
"I was excited (to hear of the signing), said Therrien. "I can't wait to see how he reports -- what his condition will be. He's a guy that we count on for the future."
When asked when Subban might make his debut, Therrien responded: "We'll see. He's going to be in Ottawa tonight. Me and Marc are going to sit down with him and explain the plan and the philosophy. LIke all the guys, I'm expecting him to buy into the team concept. I'm convinced PK will buy into those things."
To a man, the players appeared to be relieved that the Subban contract saga is over. Josh Gorges said it's a relief not to have to answer any more questions about PK Subban. In fact, Andrei Markov refused to answer ANY questions about Subban. "I'm sorry we're going to talk about tonight's game and tomorrow night's game," said Markov. "He's not in the room yet so let's talk about that, when he's in the room."
The Canadiens took to the ice at Brossard for an optional skate this morning heading into tonight's game at the Bell Centre against the Winnipeg Jets. Tomas Kaberle will return to the lineup, with Yannick Weber to sit out as a healthy scratch. The Canadiens will head to Ottawa immediately after this one is over to take on the Senators tomorrow night.
