Not everyone is thrilled for PK's return
It’s game day for the Montreal Canadiens as they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to the Bell Centre. Both teams are riding 3 game win streaks. Yanick Webber is out of the lineup and Tomas Kaberle is expected back in.
But the hot topic after this morning’s skate was the imminent arrival of newly signed restricted free agent PK Subban. The 23-year-old signed a 2 year, US$5.75 million contract and is expected to arrive in time the game day skate in Ottawa.
Veteran Habs forward Erik Cole says it's nice to have him back on the ice and to finally put the distraction behind them.
“It’s good news and good that it’s over. I think that he’s going to join the team in Ottawa so it will be good. I don’t know if he’s going to jump right in the lineup or not but we’ve got a little break before the weekend games so it will be good for him to get in and learn the new system and things like that”
But not everyone was thrilled with the news. Blue liner Andrei Markov wouldn’t even answer questions about the flashy defenseman.
“He’s not in the room yet so let’s talk about it when he’s going to be in the room.”
Coach Michel Therrien stressed that he's not worried about PK integrating with the team.
“I’m a true believer in the team concept and the team chemistry. I’ve been in a position like this before with another team and like I told the guys this morning that we’ve got some veterans that want to buy into that. And this is something that’s not going to change.”
