Morgan: Going after someone's knee is OK in the NHL

Did I hear this right? Because I'm getting older and don't always trust my ears. But the NHL isn't even reviewing the attempt to injure by Colton Orr Saturday night when he tried to take out Tomas Plekanec's knee?

I'm afraid I did hear right.

So what is the message from the NHL? It's okay to try to injure an opposing player as long as you fail in your mission.

In other words, take a hockey stick and try to smash it over someone's head. As long as you don't make contact, you're in the clear.

I find it very difficult to understand the NHL on this one. Orr was clearly going after Plekanec. This was a situation when Orr quite possibly could have put an end to Plekanec's season if not his career.

And the NHL doesn't think this merits even a review?

It almost makes me want to bite into someone's arm. Oh right, that's Mikhail Grabovsky's job, even though the NHL doesn't know it.

Let's not forget about Grabovsky biting Pacioretty's arm, they're allowed doing that in the NHL also.

The phantom knee on knee is now accepted as though it actually happened. Watch
the replay as Orr goes off balance as he passes Plekanec because he was clearly
going to hit him with the shoulder. I guess talking about the bite and knee on knee
gives habs fans some measure of solace instead of the conversation being about
how wholly unprepared the canadiens were for Saturday night. A better topic might be where Armstrong, Moen and PK were
