Ryder will lace up tonight

Michael Ryder will be in the lineup for the Canadiens tonight when they take on the Leafs in Toronto.

He was acquired by the Habs along with a third-round draft pick in exchange for Erik Cole in a deal with Dallas yesterday afternoon.

With the Habs riding the top of the Eastern conference standings (at 12-4-3), Ryder says he just wants to help out however they need him

“They’ve been winning here, so I don’t want to mix things up too much. But I just want to go out there and I guess I’ll talk to Michel later about the system and everything. I’ve just got to go out and play my game and do what I can to help the team win and play to my strengths.”

Coach Michel Therrien hasn't announced which line Ryder will join. But he will wear number 73 as rookie Brendan Gallagher offered it up, opting instead for number 11 from here on in.

And as for “Bite Gate” (when Leafs forward Mikhail Brabovski allegedly chomped down on the forearm of Habs forward Max Pacioretty last time the two teams met), Habs tough guy Brandon Prust  says they'll look for revenge on the scoreboard instead of the ice.

“I think all we’re all worried about is coming in and getting two points. We’re not going to do anything or take stupid penalties that would cost our team. Everything is going to be done smartly and we’re focused on getting two points in here.”

After missing two games with what was thought to be the flu, Rene Bourque is out with concussion like symptoms, as is Rafael Diaz. Tomas Kaberle will be back in the lineup.
