Concordia targeted by striking students
Striking students surprised Concordia University students this morning as they arrived for the first day of exams at the downtown Hall Building.
Several dozen people set up picket lines blocking all entrances just after eight o'clock this morning.
At one point university security guards had to cut chains that had been used to lock doors.
At least one window was broken.
There were several angry confrontations between the two sides before riot-equipped police moved in and began clearing the demonstrators away shortly before nine o'clock.
The confrontation between the demonstrators and police continued for a short time.
Police pushed the demonstrators from the building and on several occasions resorted to pepper spray to control the crowd which eventually dispersed.
