Vandalism, disruptions "not helpful", minister says

The Education minister says student vandalism and disruptions are hurting their cause.

She has not yet said whether this break in the truce will de-rail negotiations. Discussions will not start up again until at least this afternoon, though no time has been set.

"It's more than a protest. We are looking at acts, once again, of vandalism and public mischief," she says of last night's disturbances in Montreal.

The Education minister says the actions are unacceptable, and have gone beyond what the public is willing to tolerate.

She says the protests are no longer just about the tuition freeze, but that some are trying to champion other social causes.

"This does not help the search for a solution at all," she says.

But, she would not answer questions about whether this could spell the end to negotiations.
She says she'll speak about the subject again at a later point.

Just wait until this entire nightmare is over and what it's going to cost us tax payers! I do hope these striking students will be held accountable for the damages they incurred! To top it off, how will these educational institutions handle the influx of new students coming in next year, plus the students who have to go back and retake their courses to make up for the strike and lost time they caused? Just asking.....?
