Student protest turns sour

Posted By: Michel Boyer · 4/26/2012 2:18:00 AM

The student protest started peacefully, but it wasn't before long that dozens of windows were smashed. Cars were vandalized. Protesters then threw projectiles at police.

It all started at Parc Emilie-Gamellin. Over 9,000 protester began marching north on Berri, then west making their way to Guy street.

They began heading east on Ste. Catherine, and it wwas then that the protest was declared illegal at 10:15 p.m. However, student protesters stayed around in small groups for hours afterwards. Police confirmed via their Twitter account that the protest was entirely over just before 2:00 a.m.

Initial reports suggest there were several dozen arrests.

There were no reports of initial injuries however, many said the use of force by police was excessive.

More to come...

as far as I am concerned, they are not being forceful enough. These demonstrations have gotten out of hand and need to stop entirely. Throw the whole darn crowd into jail for a while and fine them and see if they will continue. Also, forbid them to ever enter a school again and see how far they will get in life.

Well played Minister Line Beauchamp call all 3 to meet, throw out one from the meeting knowing the other participants will pull out. Students will get frustrated and Volia riot. She got what she wanted due to the inexperienced student negotiators who fell into that trap. So you see how Beauchamp wants to negotiate in good faith.
Now she has created a big rift between the students and supporters as you can read in all the posts.

Maybe we should take a lesson from the students about talking back to the Government. I do not agree on riots but look what the Government has done to us.
