Police have identified the victim in the gruesome body parts killing case as a 33-year old Chinese man. Montreal police say Jun Lin was a student at Concordia University.

Police spokesman Ian Lafreniere told a news conference today the victim knew Luka Rocco Magnotta, the suspect in the murder.

He was reported missing on May 29, the same day a torso was discovered stuffed in a suitcase in a heap of garbage behind an apartment building on Decarie near Place Lucy.

That same day, a foot was found in a package mailed to the Conservative party headquarters in Ottawa, and a hand was later found in a package at a postal warehouse in the city. The package with the hand was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada, and tests show the three body parts came from the same victim.

Montreal police have issued a countrywide arrest warrant for the suspect in the case, Luka Rocco Magnotta, who has also been added to Interpol's wanted persons list. He is believed to be in France.

A Concordia University spokesperson said Lin was registered as an undergraduate student in the faculty of engineering and computer science.

``We are saddened to learn of this loss of life and it has affected our community, especially those who knew him,'' Concordia
president Frederick Lowy said in a statement.

``In the face of such an unfortunate event, we are offering support to our staff, faculty and students in coping with this
unexpected death.''

At the apartment building where Lin lived near Concordia's downtown Montreal campus, the concierge said he knew him simply as Justin.
