Clock Tower Beach at Old Port opens this weekend

It's being described as the new destination where Montrealers and out of towners can relax this summer.

The Clock Tower beach at the Old Port officially opens this weekend.

It's obviously not the same thing as a trip to the blue water beaches of the Carribean, but Montreal's new urban beach does have white sand and bright-colored chairs and parasols.

Old Port PR director Nadia Paquet says you might feel like you're in Atlantic City.

"We have a boardwalk zone and we have a point zone. In the point zone, you can have a super panoramic view of Pont Jacques Cartier and the river and you really feel the strong current of there", says Paquet.

There is some bad news.

Swimming is not allowed because the current in that area is said to be very strong.

The good news is that admission this weekend is free.

Typically Quebec, a beach where you cannot swim. Nothing like sitting in an area surrounded by white sand, which will imitate a huge reflector, and frying to a crisp.

Does the admission price include an appointment with a dermatologist/oncologist, it's a &%&$(&# joke!

Yep, a beach where you cannot swim, and a PR director who cannot communicate in english. Your tax dollars hard at work. Quebec sait faire!
