Surprising find in colas
Research out of France shows that Coca-Cola, Pepsi and many other brands of cola contain trace amounts of alcohol. The research was published in a French consumer magazine.
The amounts of alcohol are minute: as low as 10 milligrams per litre, or point-zero-zero-one percent.
Coca-Cola says it is possible that the traces of alcohol are generated by the manufacturing process. Likewise, Pepsi says its recipe contains no added alcohol.
The findings may be of concern to people who refrain from drinking alcohol for various reasons.
