La Ronde says human error led to worker's death
La Ronde says human error is to blame for the death of a worker.
A worker at the amusement park died Friday afternoon when he was struck by the passing Vampire roller coaster while doing repairs.
The park says he walked into a restricted area.
In a statement released Friday night, the park goes on to say, according to preliminary findings, the worker, said to be 67, failed to notify the ride's operator and did not follow protocol by entering the closed off area as a result of the ride being in operation.
La Ronde, which launched an investigation, rejects an earlier report that it failed to stop the ride.
The worker was declared dead at the scene.
Ambulance workers treated numerous people, including park workers, for shock.
The ride was closed, but the park remained open.
