Khadir family vacation is saved. Maybe.
Amir Khadir's daughter, Yalda Machouf-Khadir, was back in court today looking to get some changes to her bail conditions that would allow her to go on a summer family vacation. The Khadir family had been planning their summer vacation for months: a canoe-camping trip between mid-July and mid-August, here in Quebec.
But Amir Khadir's plans started to take on water when his daughter was arrested and charged in connection with some student strike protests. She got bail. But the problem is that one of her bail conditions requires that she observe a nightly curfew, which would have made it impossible for his daughter to join the family on its trip.
The judge who heard Machouf-Khadir's request finally granted the necessary changes.
Problem solved? Maybe not. The family patriarch, Amir Khadir, says Premier Jean Charest may finally sink his canoe trip by calling a summer election.
