Pfizer modernizing and expanding in Saint-Laurent
Pfizer Canada has announced a major investment to boost production at its St-Laurent plant.
The pharmaceutical company is pouring close to 32-million dollars into modernizing and expanding its St-Laurent facility. The new high-tech equipment and the extra space should allow Pfizer to approximately double its annual production capacity. But it won't translate into more jobs in the immediate future. Pfizer Canada vice-president Annie Sebastien, who says the St-Laurent plant has been producing at full capacity for some time, says the company is getting ready to meet anticipated new demand for its pharmaceutical products.
The 32-million dollar investment includes a nearly 2.7-million dollar grant from the Quebec government.
Pfizer, headquartered in Kirkland, employs more than 800 people in St-Laurent.
