A man from the Quebec City area has been found dead at a hotel in Costa Rica.

Serge Gravel, said to be a 60-year old retired trucker, was found dead of gunshot wounds in his hotel room in the coastal city of Jaco on Monday.

Media reports say local authorities first believed it was a suicide, but the family disputes that.

A family member says he was shot three times in the stomach.

The family asked for an investigation.
