Laval police are investigating a hold-up this morning at the Birks jewellery store at the Carrefour Laval shopping mall.

Police say two men robbed the store at around 11 a.m. and got away with an unspecified amount of merchandise. One of the men had a firearm of some kind, possibly a handgun.

There were clients in the store at the time. No one was hurt though the clerks and customers were shaken up.

Police have cordoned off the area around the store as well as the parking lot while they conduct a search as a precaution.

Police say the only description they have for now is that the men are white and in their early to mid-40s.
