Weightlifter Girard adds to Canada's bronze rush
Canada quadrupled its medal tally in about an hour and a half Tuesday morning at the London Olympics.
Weightlifter Christine Girard, who grew up in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., and now lives in White Rock, B.C., captured bronze in the women's 63-kilogram class.
It's Canada's third bronze of the day and fourth of the Games.
Divers Roseline Filion of Laval, and Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal kicked things off today with a third-place finish in the 10-metre synchro event.
Minutes later, judoka Antoine Valois-Fortier won his bronze medal bout in the 81 kg class.
That brings Canada's medal tally to four, all bronze.
