Only PQ can defend French: Marois

Posted By: Dan Delmar · 8/7/2012 1:45:00 PM

The Liberals are to blame for the weakening of the French language in Montreal, Parti Québécois (PQ) leader Pauline Marois declared in front of Percé Rock this afternoon.

Péquistes are trying to gain a strong Liberal riding in the Gaspé by promising jobs in wind power and other sectors, but it didn't take long for the language debate to come up.

If elected, Marois is promising a new and improved Bill 101, a Quebec constitution and new citizenship initiatives.

A recent report from the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) contradicts Marois' stance on French in Montreal.

It found that 97 per cent of businesses downtown served customers in Quebec’s official language; 93 per cent on the West Island.

As an anglo who speaks french I am so freaking fed up of Marois and her bunch of hoolagins......We live in Canada and french and english are our national languages. Where is my right as an anglophone to have some peace and be allowed to use my language.

Get rid of Bill 101 and the separatists. Tired of the bull crap as I am sure others are also. I hope the Liberals win.

She's right. English people are so stupid, get the message, we don't want you here!!! French people stand up and fight for what we believe in. You dumb english people just lay down and take it... It's funny how the Liberals ask for your vote come election time, when abusing you all year around. You deserve everything you get.

Does anybody care about this pot and pan clanger ? Can you imagine her running the province? You think things are bad now hang on. There are two things on her mind sovereignty and French. Maybe it is French and sovereigty. What a joke, team up with the students. What a poitician? Clueless and useless and has no plan whatsoever. Hospitals? Debt? Schools? The world would laugh at her being in office.

The French Language is not in any danger in Quebec. It's not 1960 anymore. Its hatred of the English language that motivates Marois. She should be embarrassed that she cannot speak it but then again its hard to embarrass a redneck, they are not driven by logic.

It's all good though because she is simply ensuring that she wont get any support whatsoever from anglophones or allophes. Remember the first thing Parizeau said after he lost the last referendum? He was still foaming at the mouth from anger that it was Anglos and Ethnics that were to blame for his failure. Imagine that, trampling on us and then actually expecting support. This clearly demonstrates how delusional they are.

@Paul It would be more accurate for the title to read:
      Only PQ can attack English.
Lets stop pretending that they are protecting French.
