World Film Fest announces lineup
The Montreal World Film Festival has announced its lineup for this year.
It'll feature over 430 films from 80 countries.
The jury will be presided by actress Greta Scacchi, who was featured in several films back in the 80s and 90s such as the Harrison Ford thriller Presumed Innocent and Robert Altman's The Player.
The festival will also present its popular free outdoor movie screenings, with a dozen films shown nightly at the Place des Arts Esplanade, including Hollywood blockbusters and Oscar winners such as Batman Begins, Inception, Black Swan, The Shining, Hugo, and The Artist.
This year's edition will pay tribute to Mel Hoppenheim, the Montreal entrepreneur who started Panavision Canada, a film equipment rental company which started in Montreal and expanded to Toronto and Vancouver. He also opened Mel’s Cité du Cinéma in 1988, a state of the art sound stage.
Booklets of ten tickets are on sale for $70. Other multiple film passes are available for $100 and $250.
The festival runs August 23 to September 3.
