DDO vigil for Wisconsin Sikh shooting victims
An estimated 80 people attended a candle light vigil on the West Island Friday evening to remember the six people killed in a shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin last Sunday.
The vigil was held at the Sikh community center in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
"We're all one community and we're a very small community; everyone respects everybody, everyone sticks together, so if something happens to our brothers and sisters down there, we have to show support" says Harveer Parihar, who attended the vigil.
The center will hold a memorial on Sunday.
A member of Montreal's Sikh community has travelled to Wisconsin to show support to its Sikh community.
In fact, mourners at a funeral Friday in Oak Creek for the victims included many Canadians.
Several hundred Sikhs and others packed a high school gym to pay their respects to the six people killed.
A white supremacist was behind the shootings and then killed himself.
