Aveos sale in court
The proposed sale of Montreal-based aircraft maintenance company Aveos to Germany's Lufthansa faces a challenge in court today. The union representing former Aveos employees and losing bidder MTU Aero Engines are trying to block the sale. They've complained of an unfair sale process.
The union says Lufthansa would close all former Aveos operations in Canada if it takes over, but that the losing bidder, MTU, would keep about 130 former Aveos jobs in Montreal and Vancouver. A ruling on the Aveos sale isn't expected until late tomorrow.
Aveos closed its operations in March, throwing 18-hundred people in Montreal out of work.
