Mayor Tremblay and after the election
Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay insisted the city is safe despite last night's fatal shooting during the victory speech of premier-elect Pauline Marois.
Tremblay called it an isolated incident by someone with possible mental health problems.
He offered condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
Tremblay said the suspect and his Anglo-related remarks are not an issue and that the anglophone community has a great role to play.
Tremblay said he is counting on the PQ's promise of a new minister responsible for Montreal and he wants a new revenue-sharing partnership with the government to generate more funds for roads and public transit.
