In town without my car...with cars!
The annual "In town without my car" day happens in a couple of weeks, except this year if you work downtown, you won't have to leave your car at home.
This year organizers of the event have decided not to close any streets in the downtown core. Paul Coté, president of the AMT says they realized that doing so caused a bit of an inconvenience.
"We are not in the business of creating congestion," he says, "we want to eliminate it."
So this year they are taking the event to Old Montreal. There will be different activities planned for the family and an outdoor concert. But Coté says he doesn't think this new approach defeats the purpose of the event which is to encourage people to take public transit.
"No it's just a normal evolution, I don't think it is a contradiction at all."
It takes places on September 21st and 22nd.
