Montreal police have a 25-year-old man in custody after a stabbing in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district last evening.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, remains in critical condition in hospital.

The attack happened in an apartment on Dézéry St. at around 9 p.m. The suspect fled the scene following the stabbing, but was picked up by police a short time later.

Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other. They wouldn't say anything about a motive, except to say they had been called out to the apartment before.
