High winds and heavy rains mean power outages

The high winds and heavy rains in Montreal Saturday afternoon have led to the usual smattering of fallen trees, tree branches and power outages.

There are reports of fallen tree branches in NDG, the West Island, Laval and Longueuil, among other places.

Hydro-Quebec reports as many as 24,000 customers lost power on Montreal Island at the storm's peak at 4 p.m. Saturday.

In the Montérégie region, more than 40,000 were affected.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, Hydro had no firm estimate as to when everyone who lost power will be back online.

Western NDG no power for seven hours following upon three power failures last week of one hour minimum duration. Tree branches? I don't think so.
