CLASSE vows to fight on

The student group CLASSE says a tuition freeze is not enough - it will continue to fight until tuition is free in Quebec.

The two other big student associations have ended their tuition protests, satisfied with a freeze promise from Premier-elect Pauline Marois.

CLASSE says free tuition will be the theme of the protest march it is planning for September 22.

Last night, for the first evening in months, there was no tuition march through the streets of Montreal.  About two dozen protesters gathered at the traditional starting point, Parc Emilie Gamelin, but went no further.

They insist higher education should be free. Not a problem, Close all higher education institutions for a year. That way nobody has to pay. Should they then want to have an education they will be forced to go out of province. They will then have to pay much much higher fees.

Well here is the first challenge for our new primiere. How hard a line will she take with the students. Mme. Marois has said that she would cancel the tuition hike. Does she back down even further to give the student's what they want or can she show a harder line.

I would suggest that if CLASSE keeps up the protests they should loose it all. Keep the hike and cancel the benifits that had been promised by the Charest government.

    Enough is enough

Looks like the price of buying the student votes is going up. The new government has fallen foul of the old saying - be careful what you wish for. Now you know why the PLQ would not give in to these idiots.
