McGill's top ranking threatened by under-funding
The world university rankings are out and once again McGill is among the top 20.
McGill's VP of external affairs Olivier Marcil says they are very pleased with the results of the QS World Rankings which places the universitry 18th in the world.
But it is kind of a miracle he says when you compare the financial situation of Quebec universities with others in the world.
"There's a financial situatuon in Quebec as you know that may undermine that position in the mid-to-long term."
He says the new Quebec government needs to ensure universities are better-funded if it wants them to compete on the world stage.
The University of Montreal is 114th, an improvement from 137 in 2011.
