Gas price skyrockets to 153.4; highest price ever

The price of gas is at the highest price we've ever seen in Montreal.

Some stations are charging $153.4/litre.

It's a hike of about 13 cents a litre.

EssenceMontreal.com's Chris Dirrado says since he's been keeping records in 2005, this is the highest price he has on record.

Often the price goes up in the afternoon at a few stations, before spreading to many others.

Just went to Lancaster, same price as at the weekend 124.6. Do you think there is any chance we are the victims of price fixing and gouging. These are the real issues that need addressing here and they affect everyone regardless of which language we speak. It is ruining the economy and costing jobs of Quebecors. Each extra dollar spent getting where you are going is one less dollar to spend t keep some one in a job.

Why the price is so high and why it fluctuates that way every day?
This is stressful and deteriorates the quality of our lives.
    Thank you

Here in Maine the price per gallon went up less than the price per litre went up in Montreal. Another great reason for tourists to stay away from Montreal

Maybe the high gas price is how the PQ plan to keep everyone from leaving?

Do we recall when they raised it to $1.00? We all were up in arms and how long did it take for all of us to consider $1.25 a sale? Invest in gas and gold my friends - it's never going down.

Gas still available at 119cents a litre in Cornwall at some places and averages about 130cents a litre. Me thinks something smells in Quebec.

And as usual we Canadians shout against the wind and do nothing about it.
For once let us stand together, show solidarity .
We should boycott all these greedy gas co.
Each one for a month long. If we do, gas stations will be obliged to reduce their staff.
Think of how many UIC claims the govnt will have to process.
Now it is up to us, do we stand up together and do something.
If not stop writting stupid comments.
