Libyan officials: US ambassador killed in attack

Libyan officials say the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans have been killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi by protesters angry over a film that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

The officials say Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed Tuesday night when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff. The protesters were firing gunshots and rocket propelled grenades.

All of the officials — three in all — hold senior security positions in Benghazi.

They are deputy interior minister for eastern Libya Wanis al-Sharaf; Benghazi security chief Abdel-Basit Haroun; and Benghazi city council and security official Ahmed Bousinia.

I remember when The president spoke to the hillibilly and pleaded with him not to burn a Koran for fear of the repercussions his insensitivity might have on other people in foreign soils where Fellow Americans and their lives may be put in harms way. this is not about America's right to free speech this is about inciting hatred and disrespect for other people and their cultural/religious beliefs. Hopefully one day the so called Muslims of the ARAB world will evolve to be a thicker skinned people when insults are hurled their way. I pray that they understand that Allah is the self sufficient sustainer of the world, and is ofthen returning to mercy, but the actions of the ignorant are not a reflection of Allah, The prophet, or the believers, but rather the level of unsophistication of the person trying to instigate a conflict situation out of you. Innocent blood is now upon your hands.
