NHL and union to meet today

With the lockout deadline less than four days away, talks resume in New York today between the N-H-L and the players' union.

Today's session was quickly set up after N-H-L deputy commissioner Bill Daly said both sides are to blame for the impasse.

The last time the league and players' union met informally was last Friday, and the last full bargaining session was 12 days ago.The union is due to meet this afternoon and tomorrow, and the
league's board of governors is scheduled to meet tomorrow.

Whether today's resumption of talks leads to a resolution remains to be seen.

The N-H-L is threatening to lock out the players if there's no new agreement by midnight eastern time on Saturday, when the current deal expires.
