Man re-arrested in connection with a 1995 murder
Montreal police think they're on their way to solving a 17-year-old murder case.
They've re-arrested a man they think was involved in the murder of a convicted drug dealer outside a bar at the corner of St. Denis and Roy Sts. on Aug. 30, 1995, at the height of the biker gang wars.
43-year-old Eric Beauchamps was first arrested in 1996 in connection with the shooting death of Réal Perron, but was then released after a witness changed his story.
Beauchamps was arrested again last night, after police received new information on the case earlier this year.
Beauchamps, who was 28 at the time of the murder, was recently convicted of sexual assault, and had been out on bail while awaiting sentencing.
