UPAC raids MUHC offices
Members of the province's anti-corruption squad carried out a raid today at the Guy Street administrative offices of the McGill University Health centre.
After a throng of reporters and camera operators gathered outside the entrance of the building at 2155 Guy all morning, a spokesperson came out to make a brief statement, saying that investigators arrived at their doorstep at 8 in the morning.
"UPAC came to the MUHC requesting information relating to the awarding of the contract for the Glen site in a public-private partnership," director of public affairs Richard Fahey said.
But Fahey wouldn't say anything else about the superhospital contract, only concluding that they were cooperating fully with authorities and that all other questions must be referred to UPAC, which in turn confirmed they were conducting raids and speaking with workers but that's all.
Otherwise things appeared normal at the building, with office workers and others allowed to come and go, a few Montreal police and SQ officers as well, and a security guard keeping reporters out.
