Police in north-shore Mascouche are trying to re-energize a 24-year-old cold case, involving the disappearance of a young woman in 1988.

On Sept. 21 of that year, 20-year-old Melanie Temperton had rented a room at the Metro Motel on Lajeunesse St. in Montreal with her credit card.

That was the last anyone had ever heard of her.

Now, almost 24 years to the day after she vanished, Sûreté du Québec officers are once again asking the public for help, and police, volunteers, and staff from the Missing Children's Network are distributing doorknob hangers and posters to homes and businesses in and around Mascouche.

A $10,000 reward is also being offered through Sun Youth.

Anyone with information on Temperton's disappearance is being asked to call the SQ at 1-800-659-4264.
