More than 150 Montrealers staged a peaceful and very vocal march Friday afternoon through the streets of Park Extension this afternoon.

It was to protest the infamous US-made video that depicts the prophet Mohammed as a womanizer, child molester, and a criminal.

The protesters carried placards with messages like 'stop the hatred of Islam and the prophet Muhammad' and 'our prophet is our honor'. Other signs called for peace and tolerance between religious groups.

The worldwide protests against the video have led to riots and some deaths in the Muslim world. Here in Montreal, there was a police presence, but it constituted little more than a few police cruisers, directing traffic.
